Refund & Credits Policy

Last updated: April 2026

This policy explains how credits work, what you can and can't get a refund on, and how to request one. If you have a question not covered here, contact us at [email protected].

01

How Credits Work

Credits are a prepaid digital token used to access certain features of [Your App Name], including AI-assisted recipe extraction. You purchase credits in advance and spend them as you use the Service.

Credits are sold in fixed batches. Each batch corresponds to a set number of credits at a fixed price, as shown on our pricing page at the time of purchase. Partial batches are not available.

02

Purchasing Credits

  • Credits are purchased through our checkout, powered by Stripe. Payment is taken in full at the point of purchase.
  • All prices are shown inclusive of VAT. A VAT receipt is available on request.
  • Credits are added to your account immediately upon successful payment.
  • Credits are non-transferable between accounts and have no cash value.
03

Using Credits

Each recipe extraction costs one credit. The credit is deducted from your balance when you initiate an extraction. Credits spent on extractions are non-refundable, regardless of the outcome — see the section on failed extractions below.

Your current credit balance is always visible in your account. We will notify you when your balance is low.

04

Refunds

What can be refunded

You may request a refund on any complete, unused batch of credits within 14 days of the original purchase, provided you have not spent any credits from that batch.

Because credits are sold in fixed batches, refunds are processed on a per-batch basis. We can only refund batches that correspond to a current purchase in our payment system — we cannot issue partial refunds for part of a batch, or refunds that combine credits from multiple purchases.

What cannot be refunded

  • Credits that have been spent, regardless of the result of the extraction.
  • Partial batches — if you have used some credits from a batch, the remainder of that batch cannot be refunded.
  • Purchases made more than 14 days ago, except where required by law.

How to request a refund

To request a refund, email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Refund request" and include the email address associated with your account. We will verify your purchase and credit balance, and if eligible, process the refund within 5 business days. Refunds are returned to the original payment method via Stripe.

05

Expiry & Account Closure

Credits do not expire while your account is active.

If you close your account, any remaining credits will be permanently forfeited. We recommend spending or requesting a refund on any unused credits before closing your account. If you close your account within the 14-day refund window and have unused full batches, you may still request a refund before the closure takes effect.

If we discontinue the Service, we will give you reasonable notice and refund all unspent credits regardless of when they were purchased.

06

Failed Extractions

A credit is deducted when you initiate a recipe extraction. If an extraction fails due to an error on our side — for example, a technical fault with our systems — we will restore the credit to your account.

We cannot restore credits in the following circumstances:

  • The image you uploaded did not contain a recognisable recipe.
  • The image was too low quality, blurred, or poorly lit for extraction to succeed.
  • The extraction produced a result but you were unhappy with its accuracy — AI extraction is not guaranteed to be perfect, and we encourage you to review results before saving.

If you believe a credit was deducted in error due to a fault on our side, contact us at [email protected] and we will investigate.

07

Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer protection law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have a 14-day right to cancel purchases of digital content. However, by initiating a recipe extraction you expressly consent to the digital content being delivered immediately, and acknowledge that this means you lose your right to cancel in respect of credits that have been used. This consent is obtained at the point of purchase.

If you believe we have not honoured your legal rights, please contact us at [email protected]. You may also seek advice from Citizens Advice or the Competition and Markets Authority.
